Getting Ready to Travel Again
Did you miss travelling during the pandemic? You’re not alone, as COVID-19 has probably demolished the travel plans of a lot of people. But here’s some good news. As the pandemic’s effect continues to subside, several countries have begun allowing visitors and tourists.
Let’s discuss the loosening COVID-19 restrictions and how you can resume your travel plans.
Countries Allowing International Visitors
To make things easier to understand, let’s move continent by continent.
North America
After being the epicenter of COVID-19 for a while, the US has now resumed international travel. However, remember that you’ll need to provide a negative RT-PCR report to enter the US airline. While the US-Canada border remains closed, any tourists attempting to Enter Canada will be turned away.
Mexico, however, is open to new visitors as the country enters the final stages of the reopening process. Many beaches and tourist spots in the country have been reopened. Almost all countries in the Caribbean and Central America are open to tourists (RT-PR report required).
Europe
In Europe, Armenia, Denmark, Georgia, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Kosovo, the Netherlands, Serbia, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine, and the UK are accepting tourists from countries not deemed “high-risk.” However, most countries require an RT-PCR report, so travelers should keep that in mind. Other countries have either completely closed travel or restricted it to EU citizens only.
South America
Argentina is not open to tourists and has imposed one of the strictest travel bans in the world. The same goes for Brazil, another country badly hit by COVID-19. Only Columbia, Ecuador, Guyana, Paraguay, and Peru are welcoming international visitors.
Asia
China, India, Japan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Macau, and Taiwan have imposed a ban on international travel. Other countries are allowing visits but only after a negative RT-PCR report is produced.
Oceania
Australia is closed to most foreign visitors, and the same goes for New Zealand. Most of the other islands are closed, while some smaller islands are allowed to travel. Travelers are recommended to get a negative RT-PCR report.
Africa and the Middle East
In the Middle East, Syria and Israel are not allowing international travel, while other countries are open but under strict guidelines. Most countries in Africa are allowing tourism, but travelers should be cautious and get a negative RT-PCR report before traveling.
Essential Travel Tips During COVID-19
While various countries have resumed international travel, the risk of COVID-19 transmission remains high. Follow these tips to ensure safe travel.
- Choose flights that follow safety guidelines
- Wear a mask throughout your travel
- Avoid touching your face and eyes
- Carry hand sanitizer
- Minimize human contact
- Wipe or sanitize your surroundings
- Avoid drinking water from airport tanks or public places
- Don’t travel if you’re under the weather
Wrap Up
It’s been a long time since countries imposed international travel bans. While some countries are reopening, the situation is far from safe. It’s better to avoid traveling for now, but if you have to travel, be sure to follow travel guidelines and minimize contact. And avoid visiting high-risk countries.
